Two crowds. Two very different stories. What a shift! The first, with joy, welcomes Jesus as their king, standing in defiance of the entire Roman Empire. The second, only hours later, begs for Jesus to be killed on a cross. As we hear this story read to us, as Christians have been doing together for many hundreds of years, let us be reminded that there is no way to Easter that goes around the cross. For even when you suffer your darkest night, you need to know that our Lord has already been there for you.
