Sometimes we hear Gospel stories about vines or mustard seeds and we can generally follow them pretty well. And then sometimes, we have this text. “I did not come to bring peace but a sword” Jesus says - and “whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me.” These are STRONG words with a harsh message for those of us who claim we are followers of Christ. How can the “Prince of Peace” give us such a violent message? And what might it mean for us today?
