Wednesday Apr 11, 2018
Wednesday Apr 11, 2018
A few times a year, we depart from our usual preaching schedule and hand over the mic to… you… so you can ask any and all questions pertaining to faith, community, theology… And we see what happens. We adjust the usual format of our worship service in order to leave as much time as possible for our pastors to respond to our questions—and we are always left wanting more!
Scripture: John 20:19-31
Song: "Hurricane" written by Lisa & Michael Gungor; performed by the Prince of Peace worship band

…and then everyone was so terrified they ran away screaming and never said a thing about what had happened to anyone. The end. That’s pretty much the way Mark ends his account of the resurrection. That is also why Mark is my favorite gospel. It takes more than guts to set the pen down after writing an ending like that. It takes faith.

Cups, plates and bowls—all types of vessels—show up a lot in the Bible. In fact, the writers of the Bible even use these every-day, useful objects to talk about our relationship with God. So what does it mean that we are also vessels of faith?
In this podcast, we talk about heart.

Talking In Code (Natalia Terfa 3/18/18)
Monday Mar 19, 2018

It feels like Jesus is talking in some kind of secret code in this Gospel lesson. Everyone is confused. His disciples are having a hard time interpreting him, so are the people gathering around him, and if we’re honest, so are we! Let’s try to unlock exactly what Jesus is talking about here, and how this confusing passage is really good news.

The gospel is always under assault. From cheap grace, to meeting God half way, to prosperity preaching, our efforts to remake the good news in our own image are relentless. Today God hits us with a combination for which there is no defense. Today God leaves a mark.
Scripture: Ephesians 2:1-10; John 3:14-21
Song: "Broken Vessels (amazing grace)" written by J. Houston & J. Myrin; performed by the Prince of Peace worship band
